Faouzi Bensaïdi
Faouzi Bensaïdi is a Moroccan film director, screenwriter and actor born in Meknes in 1967. He trained at the Institute of Dramatic Art in Rabat and later at the National Conservatory in Paris.
He directed his first feature film, A Thousand Months, in 2003. His film Volubilis was selected for Venice Days in 2017, confirming a body of work recognised for its distinctive visual language and attention to Moroccan society. In 2023–2024, Bensaïdi was a resident at Casa de Velázquez in Madrid. Alongside directing, he has maintained an active acting career in Moroccan and international cinema.
