Born in Rabat in 2000, Inès El Mansouri is a visual artist of Moroccan, French and German heritage who lives and studies in Geneva. She is completing a bachelor’s degree in visual art at HEAD – Genève. Her practice connects her different cultural backgrounds while placing Arab-Amazigh culture at the centre of a process of reclaiming memory and overlooked histories.
In 2018, she created Douar 7aja, a photographic polyptych about informal settlements in Rabat. It was presented in 2020 during her first solo exhibition at Galerie Abla Ababou in Rabat, as part of a platform for Morocco’s emerging scene initiated by Mahi Binebine. The exhibition also included Rose, a series about a woman living with Diogenes syndrome in Geneva. Across these projects, El Mansouri explores urban and social margins between Morocco and Switzerland.
