Khtek is the stage name of Houda Abouz, born in Khemisset in 1996. After studying film at Abdelmalek Essaâdi University in Tetouan, she emerged as one of the few prominent female voices in Moroccan rap. Her name means “your sister” in Moroccan Arabic and deliberately reclaims an expression often used as a misogynistic insult.
She began posting freestyles online in 2016 and gained wider visibility through the viral OkWaitChallenge. An outspoken feminist influenced by the 2011 Arab Spring, she addresses women’s lives and social inequality while also speaking publicly about depression and bipolar disorder. Her collaborations include ElGrandeToto, Don Bigg, Draganov and Tagne. Khtek was named among the BBC 100 Women in 2020, won Top Arabic Hip-Hop Female Artist at the Billboard Arabia Music Awards in 2024 and launched the X Tour in December 2025.
