Mahmoud Chahdi
Born in Fez in 1984, Mahmoud Chahdi is a Moroccan theatre director, researcher and educator. He earned a doctorate in performing arts from the University of Strasbourg in 2016 with a thesis on theatre and the institutionalisation of cultural policy in Morocco. He teaches directing at ISADAC in Rabat, combining artistic creation with research on Morocco’s cultural policies.
Chahdi leads the Ali Zaoua Academy for Cultural Professions and serves as artistic director of the company Nous Jouons pour les Arts. He was also appointed artistic director of the 23rd National Theatre Festival. Since 2007, he has directed thirteen productions, including Kosmoprofêtes, Isly, Le Couloir and Ah webredat, developing a body of work that connects formal experimentation with social engagement.
