Meryem Aboulouafa
Born in Casablanca on 3 December 1988, Meryem Aboulouafa is a Moroccan singer-songwriter. She studied music theory and violin at the Casablanca Conservatory before earning a degree in interior design and working as a designer and teacher. Encounters with the stages of MadJazz and Jazzablanca in 2017 helped bring her music to wider attention.
Her debut album Meryem was released in May 2020 by Animal 63 and recorded in Paris with producer Para One. Sung in Arabic, French and English, its eleven tracks explore death, prayer, love and self-acceptance through a blend of pop, electronics and Moroccan references. Her songs have appeared in productions for Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV+. In 2025, she founded Zerhoun Records and released the single Horses ahead of her second album Family, issued on 3 December 2025.
