Mohamed Elhor
Mohamed Elhor is a Moroccan theatre director and playwright trained at ISADAC in Rabat. He founded Théâtre Akoun to develop stage writing at the intersection of popular theatre and experimental forms. He also directs the Ba Hnini cultural venue in Rabat, one of the capital’s spaces connected to independent theatrical creation.
His production SOLO, adapted from Tahar Ben Jelloun’s novel The Sacred Night, was recognised at the Arab Theatre Festival in 2018. Gardens of Secrets, presented at the Carthage Theatre Days in December 2022, received four major awards: best overall production, direction, scenography and female performance. Elhor is also a regular critical voice in Moroccan and Arab media on the challenges facing contemporary theatre.
