Sculptor and multidisciplinary visual artist Essaouira, Morocco

Noureddine Ouarhim

Born in 1992 in the Haha region of Essaouira Province, Noureddine Ouarhim is a Moroccan visual artist who graduated from the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tetouan in 2017. His training also includes graphic industries in Rabat and applied arts in Essaouira. His practice moves across sculpture, painting, ceramics, drawing, lithography, land art and installation. He favours raw materials charged with memory — earth, barley seeds, lime, bark and roots — drawing on his rural Amazigh childhood to explore identity, memory and materiality. His exhibitions and residencies include FLATTA in Tangier, Al Maqam in Tahanaout, Dar Souiri and the French Institute of Essaouira, and Galerie Abla Ababou in Rabat.
