Oumaima Barid

Oumaima Barid is a Moroccan actor from Agadir. She began as an extra before taking a notable early role in Al Hadi Ulad-Mohand’s Life Suits Me Well (2021), presented at the Red Sea International Film Festival. Director Sofia Alaoui later cast her as Itto, a pregnant woman facing supernatural events, in Animalia, which premiered in competition at Sundance in January 2023. That breakthrough opened the way to international auteur cinema. Barid appeared in Fez Summer ’55, presented in Tallinn, Abdellah Taïa’s Cabo Negro at Karlovy Vary and Seloua El Gouni’s The Wound. Screen International selected her among its Arab Stars of Tomorrow in 2024. Further projects include Sara & Fatima and the series Caftan Khadija, confirming her as a rising figure in Moroccan cinema.
