From 6 to 16 February 2026, Damascus International Book Fair marked the return of a major publishing event to the Syrian capital, with more than 500 Arab and international publishing houses from around 35 countries reported by the organisers.
Books and public debate
Beyond its stands, the fair offered lectures, cultural dialogues, author meetings, poetry readings and editorial presentations. It brought publishing professionals, institutions, writers and readers together around a broader range of books.
An edition in transition
The 2026 fair took place in a changing cultural environment. Reporting highlighted a more varied selection and greater visibility for cultural expressions previously marginalised, including Kurdish publishing.
