The National Theatre Festival in Tétouan is the main annual event organised by the Ministry of Culture to present, assess and support Moroccan theatrical creation.
A competition reflecting the season
Selected productions reveal the writing, directing, performance and scenographic approaches developed by professional companies. Awards recognise several stage professions and help document the year’s theatrical output.
A space for recognition
Tributes to artists and professionals connect new productions with the careers and transformations that have shaped Moroccan theatre. They also contribute to building a shared professional memory.
Debate and cultural policy
Meetings, forums and parallel activities address production, touring, training and public access. The festival becomes a place of exchange between artists, institutions, researchers, critics and audiences.
Tétouan as host city
Organised with the province of Tétouan, the festival generally takes place in November or December across the city’s theatres and cultural venues.
