Image of Grossmann Fantastic Film and Wine Festival

The Grossmann Fantastic Film and Wine Festival turns Ljutomer into Slovenia’s centre for genre cinema. Its programme combines horror, science fiction, cult films and meetings with filmmakers, while celebrating the wine traditions of the Prlekija region.

A recognised genre festival

Founded in 2005 on the centenary of Slovenian cinema, the festival is named after pioneering filmmaker Karol Grossmann. It belongs to the Méliès International Festivals Federation and supports unconventional films that are often absent from mainstream distribution.

Film, wine and popular culture

Screenings, special-effects workshops, concerts, exhibitions, lectures and wine tastings create a distinctive atmosphere. Costume parades and awards for both cinema and wine reinforce its identity.

2026 edition

The 22nd edition ran from 8 to 12 July 2026 in Ljutomer, with actress Caroline Munro as guest of honour and an international selection of features and shorts.
