Karacena — Circus and Travel Arts Biennale

An international biennale led by AMESIP and the Shems’y National Circus School, combining contemporary circus, dance, music, equestrian arts, training and public space.

Karacena — Circus and Travel Arts Biennale

Karacena turns Salé into an open stage for contemporary circus, dance, music, equestrian arts and creations that explore travel, movement and encounter.

A biennale linked to Shems’y

Led by AMESIP and the Shems’y National Circus School, the event combines Moroccan and international performances, work by young artists, professional transmission and cooperation with foreign companies.

The city as performance space

Big tops, historic gates, public squares and cultural venues host performances and parades. This geography brings circus closer to residents and makes the medina and neighbourhoods active partners in the programme.

Training and artistic emergence

Karacena is connected to long-term circus education and to the professional development of young performers. The biennale therefore links public presentation with learning and international exchange.

The 2026 edition

The eleventh edition, under the theme “Making a Body”, runs from 21 to 31 August 2026. Venues and schedules should be checked in the final programme.
