La Cigogne Volubile is the children’s literature festival of the French Institute of Morocco network. Held across several cities, it brings children closer to books through meetings with authors and illustrators, readings, workshops and artistic activities designed for young audiences.
A springtime celebration of children’s books
Launched in Meknes in 2010 before expanding across the national network, the festival mainly addresses children aged 4 to 12, as well as families, teachers and cultural mediators. Its travelling format enables the same programme to circulate between branches of the French Institute of Morocco.
Reading, creating and meeting
The festival goes beyond displaying books. It connects young readers with the people who write, illustrate, tell and produce stories. Illustration workshops, readings aloud, performances, discussions and school activities extend the reading experience.
Contemporary themes for childhood
Each edition is built around a guiding theme. In 2026, the fourteenth edition explored emotion and inclusion across the network’s twelve branches. The festival therefore treats children’s literature as a tool for discovery, dialogue and personal expression.
