La Notte della Taranta keeps the pizzica tradition of Salento alive while placing it in dialogue with contemporary artists and musical languages. The project combines research, performance, transmission and living heritage.
A festival across Salento
The travelling programme crosses villages, squares and communities before culminating in Melpignano’s Concertone. Since 1998, it has connected local memory, dance and music from around the world.
A Mediterranean 2026 edition
The 2026 edition runs from 30 July to 23 August, with the Concertone scheduled for 22 August under concert master Ermal Meta. The programme frames the Mediterranean as a space of relationships and includes Moroccan sounds through Bab L’Bluz.
Living heritage
The festival shows how a local tradition can remain recognisable while generating new work and cross-Mediterranean collaboration.
