A national festival for original songs in the Maltese language, performed with a live orchestra and presented to a large stage and television audience.

Singer performing with a live orchestra at Mużika Mużika

Mużika Mużika celebrates musical creation in the Maltese language. The festival gives local singers, lyricists and composers a national stage, supported by a live orchestra and television coverage that makes it one of Malta’s most widely followed song events.

A platform for the Maltese language

The competing songs are original works performed in Maltese. The format highlights writing, composition, orchestral arrangement and vocal performance while creating continuity between generations of artists.

Relaunch and national reach

Formerly known as the Maltese Song Festival, the event was relaunched in 2021. It has since become a prestigious platform for local music and a popular showcase for the Maltese language.

The 2026 edition

The 2026 festival ran from 19 to 21 March, bringing together competition evenings, a final, live orchestra and public voting.
