National Children’s Culture Week in Syria

A nationwide cultural programme for children combining theatre, cinema, reading, music, visual arts, crafts, digital workshops and inclusive activities across several governorates.

Children participating in cultural and artistic activities during National Children’s Culture Week in Syria

National Children’s Culture Week unfolded across Syrian cultural centres in July 2026 with a broad programme combining learning, creation, entertainment and family participation.

More than seventy activities in Damascus

Six cultural centres in Damascus hosted more than seventy activities with around twenty partners. The programme included theatre, storytelling, reading, cinema, music, drawing, modelling, handicrafts, awareness sessions and introductory digital workshops. Other activities were organised in Hama, Tartous, Latakia and surrounding towns and villages.

An inclusive approach

The week explicitly included children with disabilities and encouraged accessible participation in workshops. It also promoted the documentation and public presentation of works produced by children, turning the programme into a space for expression rather than passive attendance.

A network rather than one venue

Schedules and age groups varied between governorates. Families should consult their local cultural directorate for times, registration requirements and accessibility details.
