Festival Poetry and literature Ramallah, Palestine Festival launched in 2017; next edition to be confirmed

Ramallah Poetry Festival

Founded in 2017, the festival brings Palestinian and Mediterranean poets into Ramallah’s squares and open spaces, affirming that poetry belongs to everyone.

Visual for the Ramallah Poetry Festival

The Ramallah Poetry Festival is a literary event launched in 2017 by the municipality in partnership with the Mahmoud Darwish Foundation and the French organisation Culture libre. It hosts Palestinian poets and voices connected with Mediterranean cultures.

Poetry in public space

The festival favours squares, gardens and open or unconventional venues. This choice reflects a simple principle: poetry should not remain confined to specialist circles but should circulate through the city and reach people who may not usually attend literary events.

A Mediterranean outlook

The project grew through exchanges with France’s Voix de la Méditerranée festival. Readings, encounters and conversations connect different languages, experiences and poetic traditions.

Editorial status

Ramallah Municipality continues to list the festival among its cultural projects. Without a recently published detailed calendar, the next edition remains to be confirmed and no 2026 date is invented.
