Created in the 1960s, the Festival culturel international de Timgad is one of Algeria’s best-known music events. Its identity combines popular programming with an exceptional setting near the ancient Roman city of Timgad.

Music, heritage and place

The festival presents Algerian and international performers from song, popular music and Arab and African scenes. The nearby archaeological site places the experience within the major heritage landscape of the Aurès region.

The 2026 return

After a three-year absence, the 43rd edition took place from 9 to 13 July 2026 in the new open-air theatre beside the archaeological city. Organisers described it as a special comeback edition.
