Amazigh and world music festival Music / Amazigh culture Agadir, Morocco July

Timitar — Signs & Cultures

Agadir’s major free festival, founded in 2004, brings Amazigh music into dialogue with Moroccan, African, Arab and international scenes across the city’s public spaces.

Timitar — Signs & Cultures

Timitar — Signs & Cultures is built around a phrase that has become its signature: “Amazigh artists welcome world music.” The festival affirms the cultural identity of the Souss while creating encounters with other musical scenes.

A festival born in Agadir

Founded in 2004, Timitar has grown into one of Morocco’s major music festivals and an important event on the African cultural calendar. Its line-up brings together Amazigh singers and ensembles, Saharan music, Moroccan popular traditions, African artists, voices from the Arab world and international projects.

Living heritage and contemporary creation

Ahwach, sung poetry, the art of the Rrways and regional repertoires meet pop, urban music, fusion and new stage practices. This dialogue gives heritage a visible place in the present.

A popular celebration across the city

Free and open to all, the festival unfolds in major public spaces in Agadir and connects culture to the tourism and economic life of the city.

The 2026 edition

The twenty-first edition takes place from 23 to 25 July 2026. Dates, schedules and confirmed artists should be checked in the annual programme.
