Volubilis International Festival of Traditional World Music — Volubilis, Meknes and Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, Morocco

The Volubilis International Festival brings traditional music into dialogue with archaeological heritage and historic cities. Its programme moves between the ancient site of Volubilis, Meknes and Moulay Idriss Zerhoun.

Artistic identity and public role

Amazigh, Gnaoua, Aissawa and regional Moroccan repertoires meet ensembles from Africa, Europe, Latin America and elsewhere. The festival treats tradition as a living language capable of exchange rather than as a fixed museum object.

Transmission and current edition

The 25th edition ran from 13 to 16 May 2026 across five venues and announced more than sixty performances. By distributing concerts across heritage and urban spaces, it connects international artistic exchange with local audiences.
