The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Rijeka, known as MMSU, documents transformations in Croatian and international art across the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
Collections and history
The institution originated in the Fine Arts Gallery founded in 1948. Its collections include painting, sculpture, drawing, prints, photography, posters and media art, with particular attention to Rijeka artists and exchange with European and Mediterranean scenes.
Exhibitions and production
MMSU develops solo and group exhibitions, interprets its holdings, supports research and works with artists, curators and international partners. Its history is also connected with landmark platforms for young artists, original drawing and regional contemporary production.
