Palau de la Música Catalana is a concert hall, a landmark of Catalan Modernisme and the historic home of Orfeó Català. Designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner and opened in 1908, it remains one of Barcelona’s most distinctive musical spaces.
Architecture designed for music
The hall combines steel, glass, mosaic, ceramics, sculpture and natural light. Its central stained-glass skylight and floral decoration turn the auditorium into a total work of art in which architecture and musical experience respond to one another.
World Heritage and a living institution
Listed as UNESCO World Heritage with Hospital de Sant Pau, the Palau is not a static monument. It hosts symphonic concerts, chamber music, choral singing, recitals, jazz, world music and educational projects.
Orfeó Català
The building was created for Orfeó Català, a choral society founded in 1891. This history connects the venue with Catalan cultural life, choral practice and civic participation.
