Film discovery on Crete
The 14th Chania Film Festival runs from 21 October to 1 November 2026 at the Cultural Center of Chania, Crete. The programme combines international and Greek fiction, documentaries, animation, short films and features, alongside filmmaker talks, exhibitions, publications and masterclasses.
Education and expanded cinema
The festival gives particular attention to film education through school screenings and workshops, with parallel activities exploring documentary podcasts and virtual-reality viewing. According to the published schedule, the opening ceremony starts at 20:00 on 21 October, followed at 21:00 by Nikos Koundouros's « The Ogre of Athens ».
