Research and creative residencies in Montmartre, Paris
The Art Explora Foundation and the Cité internationale des arts invite established international artists to develop work that engages with art and science, digital transformation, social questions and ecology. The programme brings residents to Montmartre, Paris, in 2027. It is open to all nationalities, including applicants from Morocco, subject to professional experience requirements.
Solo and collective opportunities
The SOLO programme offers three- or six-month residencies for individual artists. The COLLECTIVE programme offers three months for artists working with other artists, researchers or curators. For collectives, the studio and personal living allowance are principally awarded to the designated resident artist rather than to every group member separately.
What residents receive
Residents are provided with a furnished approximately 50 m² live/work studio, a €1,000 monthly living allowance, up to €3,000 in production funding against eligible costs, and return travel to Paris. The residency also offers professional introductions, curatorial dialogue, mentoring, Open Studios and access to French and international arts networks. The production budget is a capped project allowance, not another monthly cash stipend.
Who is eligible?
Applications are open to artists from any country and of any age, provided they can show at least five years of professional artistic activity and international circulation of their work. Relevant disciplines include visual arts, performing arts and digital art, with project proposals exploring contemporary societal or scientific themes. Selection considers artistic quality, professional history and why work in Paris is integral to the project.
Preparing the online application
Apply online in French or English via the organiser’s programme website. Standard materials include a project description up to 3,500 characters, two-page motivation letter, portfolio up to 30 pages, and CV up to five pages; applicants should check the 2027 portal for final specifications. Submitted applications may be locked against further editing.
Deadline: 30 October 2026. Results are anticipated in January 2027 for the first residency period and June 2027 for the second. [Official programme and application](https://www.artexplora.org/residences-dartistes-presentation-du-programme) · [More opportunities](https://culturama.ma/opportunites).
