An international premiere at Venice's Biennale Danza
La Biennale di Venezia is inviting choreographers and dance companies from around the world, including Morocco, to submit a proposal for a new choreographic work to be premiered at Biennale Danza 2027. The work must be genuinely original and never previously premiered, whether as a studio showing or a complete performance. Dance director Wayne McGregor will choose the winning proposal.Funding and presentation support
The selected project may receive a production or co-production contribution of up to €30,000. La Biennale will additionally support the artistic performance fee for the Venice premiere, travel and accommodation of the choreographer or company for the premiere, and technical requirements agreed with the Biennale team. The €30,000 is a production contribution for the selected work, not a universal individual cash prize.
Artistic and production conditions
The proposal must be suitable for adaptation to one of the festival's performance spaces and feasible within an agreed schedule and budget. After selection, the team will request a preliminary production budget. Technical, logistical and prop requirements must be addressed with the festival's production team eight weeks before the premiere.
Documents required
Applications must be submitted through the official online form, including:
- A project description in English, maximum one side of A4, stating proposed co-production partners and their respective contributions.
- A 5–10-minute video link, which may feature rehearsal or dance material, a choreographic sketch, and/or spoken English explanation illustrating the creative proposal.
