Art, ecological inquiry and community exchange in São Luís
Cultivamos Cultura invites international artists, creative practitioners, researchers and interdisciplinary professionals to apply for one place in its “Bom Dia” OASis Residency 2027. The residency takes place for 7 to 30 days in March 2027 in the rural community of São Luís, Odemira, Portugal. It explores ecological futures, local materials, participatory creation and practices of care.Funding and living conditions
The selected project receives a €1,300 project fee, up to €1,600 in pre-approved production and materials expenses, travel funding up to €500, a private room in shared farmhouse accommodation, access to working spaces and an equitable food per diem. Residents may use the facilities and shared kitchen. Production expenses require approval before purchase, and eligible support is paid against a valid invoice. Groups of up to two people are allowed, but financial terms stay the same for a pair and a single artist.
What residents are expected to create
The selected artist or pair must be present throughout the agreed residency. Organisers favour projects working with natural or local materials, sustainability, ecology, care and the local community. Activities can include open studios, walks, workshops, public talks and performances. An artistic output must become part of the OASis 2027 group exhibition, and an element will join the Cultivamos Cultura collection.
Eligibility and selection
The call is explicitly international and can be entered by Morocco-based artists and researchers. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient autonomous practice to deliver their proposal. Selection values originality, feasibility with the host’s resources, local engagement and consistency with the programme’s environmental aims. Use the organisers’ official submission instructions to prepare and deliver the proposal.
Deadline may arrive earlier than expected
The call is open until 30 October 2026 at 18:00 CET, or until the first 100 applications are received, whichever comes first. Applicants should check the call is still accepting submissions and should not wait for the published date if ready to apply.
