Supporting new artistic work across the Arab region
Culture Resource / Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafy invites emerging artists and writers from Arab countries and their diasporas, including Morocco, to apply for the 2027 Production Awards. The programme offers up to 25 production grants, ordinarily five in each of five artistic fields. Funding supports the creation of new work rather than offering a general cash award to applicants.Funding by discipline
Under the programme's full guidelines, awards reach €13,000 for cinema, covering fiction, documentary, animation and experimental productions or postproduction; €8,500 for visual arts, including installations, photography and comics; €8,500 for music and sound arts; €8,500 for performing arts, including dance and theatre; and €6,500 for literature, including novels, short stories, poetry and theatre texts. A recent organiser social announcement cites €8,500 for literature too, so literature applicants should confirm the correct applicable cap in the current application portal.
Who can apply?
Applicants must be born between January 1992 and December 2011 and originate from an Arab country, regardless of citizenship and whether living in the Arab region or abroad. The application should be submitted by the principal creator: film director, theatre director or choreographer, author, principal musician, or lead artist/curator. Applicants under 18 need additional parental consent documentation. Only one project can be submitted per round.
What is not covered?
Already produced or publicly presented projects are not eligible simply for reproduction. The programme excludes websites, workshops, organisational overhead, television series and projects focused on academic or art research. The grant cannot fund the purchase of machinery or equipment. Supported projects normally need to be completed within 18 months of the agreement.
Application, documents and reporting
Submit via the official online portal. All narrative fields must be completed in Arabic, except where the form specifically requests English. Prepare a project concept, artistic background, schedule, detailed budget and discipline-specific attachments, using accepted PDF, JPEG and PNG formats. Contracts provide 70% of the grant upon signature and 30% after required narrative and financial reports. Successful applicants must provide two guarantors.
