Celebrating exceptional contemporary craft
The tenth LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize recognises a unique artwork combining technical mastery, artistic ambition and an innovative approach to traditional skills. The winner receives €50,000. Shortlisted works are presented in an exhibition and publication in Europe in spring 2027. This is a competitive award, not a project grant provided to every applicant.
Who may apply?
The prize is open to professional craftspeople over 18 from every country, including Morocco, either individually or as a group. Eligible fields include ceramics, bookbinding, enamel, jewellery, lacquer, metal, furniture, leather, textiles, glass, paper, wood and other applied arts. Professional engagement can be demonstrated through exhibitions, galleries, fairs or educational programmes; crafts need not be the applicant's sole source of income.
Requirements for the submitted work
The proposed piece must be original, one of a kind and wholly or partly handmade, produced within the past five years, and must not have previously won an award. The selection values an identifiable artistic vision and a meaningful renewal of inherited craft traditions.
How to enter
Registration is free and available online only, in English. Applicants should provide two to five photographs of the work or series, a brief conceptual description and optionally a video. Check the organiser's guidance on image size and file specifications before submitting. Email submissions are not accepted.
