Six months of research with Tate Britain and Delfina Foundation

The Brooks International Fellowship Programme 2027 offers two positions for international researchers based outside the UK, including those based in Morocco. Fellows join the Tate Britain Curatorial Division and the residency community at Delfina Foundation in London from 5 April to 17 September 2027. This is a full-time, non-salaried research fellowship, not a conventional paid job.

Two distinct research themes

Leonora Carrington: Art and the Theatre of Life examines the artist's relationship with theatre, performance and performativity through archives, manuscripts, letters, photographs and historical materials. Familiarity with Mexican cultural and social histories may be particularly relevant. Artist Supported Studios investigates organisations supporting disabled and neurodivergent artists through studio provision and advocacy, contributing to Tate Britain's 2028 commission research, questions of accessibility and collaborative curatorial practice.

Funding and benefits

The successful Fellows receive a return economy-class flight, UK airport transfers, a private bedroom at Delfina Foundation, a £40-per-day living stipend, London public transport, and reimbursement of visa fees where required. Access to Tate's collections, staff and research facilities, an additional research resource allowance and some professional travel are also included. This is a residency with living support, rather than a salary.

Eligibility

The positions are intended for researchers and visual arts professionals based outside the United Kingdom, with demonstrated knowledge and interests relevant to the specific research stream they select. Candidates should read the role-specific duties and person specifications before applying, as these are not open-ended studio residencies.

How to apply: email a Word form

Do not apply through an online portal. Download the appropriate Word .docx application form and supporting call document from Tate's official vacancy page; complete the required sections and email the form to international.fellowships@tate.org.uk. An ordinary CV without the required form is not sufficient. The organiser also offers alternative response formats under its accessibility guidance.
