Two three- or six-month residencies in Poitiers offer French-speaking performing artists free accommodation and €1,250 gross per month. Moroccan applicants qualify only if they are current or former residents of the Cité internationale des arts in Paris. Deadline 30 October 2026.

Creation and cultural outreach at Villa Bloch in Poitiers

The City of Poitiers, Villa Bloch and the Cité internationale des arts are inviting two French-speaking performing artists to take up successive three- or six-month residencies during 4 January–2 July 2027 or 30 August 2027–29 February 2028. The programme uses the former home of writer Jean-Richard Bloch to encourage artistic research and exchange with local audiences.

Critical restriction: previous Cité residency required

This is not an open global residency for any artist. Applicants must currently be residents at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, or have previously completed at least one residency there. A Moroccan artist can apply only if this prerequisite is met, alongside being French-speaking and able to write in French. Eligible fields include theatre writing, stage direction, choreography, dance, music composition, circus and live performance. Artists must be able to work with diverse local audiences.

Funding and practical limits

The programme includes free artist-only accommodation and workspace and a €1,250 gross monthly stipend, amounting to €3,750 gross for three months or €7,500 gross for six months. Return travel between Paris and Poitiers is funded, but international travel to France is explicitly excluded. A local bus pass can be provided. The venue currently has limited accessibility for people with reduced mobility, so applicants with accessibility needs should contact the organiser.

Required public engagement

Residents devote most of their time to artistic research, development and making. They also deliver workshops, public discussions or other audience encounters, with outreach capped at 30% of the residency duration. The organisers particularly value a clear plan for engaging Poitiers residents, cultural professionals, associations, children and local educational organisations.

Application documents

Email a dossier in French to villa.bloch@poitiers.fr, with the signed application form, motivation letter stating the requested residency duration and dates, a project note on artistic research and outreach, an up-to-date CV, and a portfolio or evidence of previous works in one PDF. Incomplete proposals are not accepted. Final selection is scheduled by early December 2026.

Deadline: 30 October 2026; no confirmed specific clock time.
