The Aissawa — Modes and Rhythms of the World Festival celebrates a spiritual and musical heritage deeply connected to Meknes, its brotherhoods, masters, chants and collective ritual practices.
Artistic identity and public role
Festival evenings present different Aissawa expressions while creating encounters with other spiritual and rhythmic traditions. This openness shows how heritage can evolve and reach new generations without losing its roots.
Transmission and current edition
By occupying El-Hedim Square and other public spaces, the festival reconnects brotherhood memory with contemporary city life. Its sixth edition took place from 22 to 25 July 2026 over four evenings.
