The Almada Festival is one of Portugal’s major theatre events. Every summer it brings Portuguese and international productions to venues in Almada and Lisbon, creating a meeting place for artists, professionals and audiences.
An international programme
Text-based theatre, visual creation, contemporary staging, musical forms and projects from different performance traditions share the programme. Foreign productions enter into dialogue with Portuguese companies.
A festival rooted in the city
Shows are distributed across theatres, municipal spaces and partner venues. Talks, exhibitions and critical activities extend the experience beyond performance times.
2026 edition
The 43rd edition runs from 4 to 18 July 2026, with nineteen shows—twelve international and seven Portuguese—across eight stages.
