Public cultural service

Places for performance, reading and cultural participation

Depending on their facilities and programmes, public cultural centres may host performance, film, exhibitions, public talks, workshops and public reading services.

The Ministry assigns its territorial services responsibilities for cultural programming, support for creation, development of the venue network and maintenance of the national cultural map. Local authorities and public organisations complement this network through their own venues.

Opening hours, registration and admission arrangements vary. Culturama venue pages prioritise available institutional information and activities that have been publicly announced.

Practical questions

Is admission to public cultural centres free?

Entry to a building, library or selected activity may be free. Performances, screenings and workshops can require booking, an invitation or a ticket.

Do all centres offer the same facilities?

No. Facilities differ and may include a theatre, public library, media library, gallery, workshop rooms or a film-screening hall.

Where can I find opening hours and programmes?

Check the individual venue page and events published by Culturama. Hours may vary between services, seasons and scheduled activities.

What is a public-foundation cultural centre?

A public cultural centre is directly managed by an administration or local authority. The IKLYLE centres listed here belong to a public foundation and are identified separately.
