Aswan International Women Film Festival — AIWFF — highlights films directed by women or centred on women’s experiences, rights and representation. Founded in 2017, it roots this mission in Aswan and Upper Egypt.
Cinema, stories and equality
The programme brings together feature and short fiction and documentary films from Egypt, the Arab world, Africa and beyond. Competitions welcome work directed by women or primarily addressing women’s issues.
Transmission and local roots
Beyond screenings, the festival develops debate, encounters and filmmaking workshops. These activities support emerging women filmmakers and widen access to audiovisual practice in southern Egypt.
Tenth edition
The 10th edition took place from 20 to 25 April 2026 under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture. It presented 68 films from 34 countries and honoured Egyptian cinema pioneer Aziza Amir.
