From 5 July to 20 August 2026, the 39th Barski ljetopis turns Bar into a regional cultural platform with 46 programmes across 46 days.
The 2026 edition
The programme is organised in six strands: theatre, music, visual arts, literature, film and bARS, a section dedicated to local authors and urban creation. Performances, concerts, screenings, exhibitions and talks take place at the summer stage, King Nikola’s Palace, the cultural centre and other city venues.
Why this festival matters
Founded in 1987, Barski ljetopis connects Bar’s multicultural history with contemporary creation. It brings together Montenegrin artists, regional companies and international guests while keeping a substantial part of the programme free of charge.
Key points
- Forty-six programmes over forty-six days.
- Six complementary artistic disciplines.
- A strong local-creation focus through the bARS strand.
