Buffer Fringe is a unique performing arts festival in Cyprus, created in Nicosia’s buffer zone. It uses live art to open spaces for dialogue, question divisive narratives and encourage cooperation between communities.
An intercommunal festival
Since 2014, the festival has brought together artists and audiences from different communities on the island alongside international participants. Theatre, music, installation, participatory performance and site-specific work meet peacebuilding and social transformation.
2026 edition
The 11th edition is scheduled for 2–4 October 2026. Its open call welcomes experimental and interdisciplinary proposals, especially work engaging with decolonial perspectives, solidarity and challenges to dominant narratives.
