Morocco International Improvisation Festival

A festival dedicated to improvisational theatre, bringing Moroccan and international companies together through matches, cabarets and performances created live.

Morocco International Improvisation Festival

The Morocco International Improvisation Festival celebrates theatre without a predetermined script, created on stage through listening, responsiveness and the performers’ imagination. It provides a meeting space for Moroccan companies and international guests.

Stories invented in front of the audience

Improvisation cabarets, matches, collective challenges and plays created entirely live form the core of the programme. Performers develop characters and narratives from constraints, themes or audience suggestions, making spectators part of the creative process.

A laboratory for performance and cooperation

Beyond comedy, improvisation depends on listening to partners, accepting the unexpected and building collectively. The festival helps introduce this theatre practice to wider audiences in Morocco and encourages exchanges of methods between teams, performers and spectators.

Formats open to other stages

Documented editions have also brought improvisation into dialogue with stand-up. In 2025, an evening organised with the French Institute of Rabat gathered several companies around a free-form cabaret, an improvised play and performances by guest comedians.
