The Lumière Festival turns Lyon, birthplace of the Cinematograph, into the world capital of classic cinema. It celebrates film history through restored prints, retrospectives and encounters with major artists.

Films on the big screen

Screenings are introduced by filmmakers, actors, historians and technicians who provide context and share the history of the works.

A heritage cinema meeting point

Lumière Classics and the International Classic Film Market bring together archives, rights holders, distributors and restoration laboratories.

2026 edition

The 18th edition runs from 10 to 18 October 2026. Joel and Ethan Coen receive the Lumière Award, and the professional market takes place from 13 to 16 October.
