From 11 to 20 September 2026, the fourth Zagreb Opera Festival brings Croatian and European opera productions, artists and creative teams to the Croatian capital.
The 2026 edition
Organised by the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, the festival opens with Verdi’s Aida, a co-production linking Zagreb, Teatro Massimo Palermo and the Csokonai National Theatre in Debrecen. The programme also welcomes the Polish Royal Opera and artists and companies from Spain, Slovenia, France and other European scenes.
Three performance spaces
For the first time, events are distributed across the historic main stage, the theatre foyer and the new HNK 2 venue. Large productions are accompanied by chamber formats, work for younger audiences, artist talks and educational activities.
