The Archaeological Museum of the Larnaka District brings together major discoveries from the region, including finds from the ancient city-kingdom of Kition and the Neolithic settlements of Choirokoitia and Tenta at Kalavasos. Its galleries cover several millennia, from the Neolithic period to Roman rule.
From prehistoric communities to ancient kingdoms
The collections include tools, figurines, pottery and objects from the Neolithic and Copper Age, followed by material from the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods. Finds from Kition illuminate the city’s political, religious and commercial role in Cypriot history.
A region connected to the Mediterranean
Faience, ivory and alabaster objects testify to long-distance exchange. The museum also presents Egyptian, Mycenaean, Phoenician, Assyrian and Persian items found in the district, revealing Larnaka’s early place within wider Mediterranean networks.

The museum is located on Kalograion Square in Larnaka. Published opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00–16:30, with closure on public holidays. Admission is listed as free and the museum is fully accessible. A virtual tour is also available through the Larnaka Virtual Museums project.
