The Maritime Museum of Montenegro occupies the baroque Grgurina Palace in Kotor’s Old Town. A collection developed from the late nineteenth century documents the long relationship between Bay communities, Adriatic navigation and Mediterranean trade networks.
Collections and programme
Ship models, captains’ portraits, navigational instruments, maps, weapons, uniforms, furniture and documents interpret maritime careers, confraternities, naval conflict and the daily lives of families connected to the sea.
Cultural role
The museum places Kotor within a maritime history extending beyond present-day borders. It connects the palace’s architectural heritage with community memory, historical research and educational work.
