MUŻA is Malta’s national community art museum. Located in the Auberge d’Italie in Valletta, it presents the national art collection through stories connecting history, the Mediterranean, Europe and contemporary practice.
Collections as narratives
The museum organises works around broad themes rather than a simple chronology. Painting, sculpture, objects and documents explore maritime exchange, political power, religion, artists and the formation of Maltese identities.
A community museum
MUŻA develops temporary exhibitions, interpretation, family activities, research and participatory projects. It positions the collection as a space for dialogue with contemporary society.
