Rabat premiere for “المصعد” (The Elevator)
“المصعد” (The Elevator), the new production directed by Amine Nassour, begins its announced tour in Rabat on Sunday 6 September 2026 at 7:30 pm at Salle Haj Bahnini. The original idea and text are by Zoubir Hilal, who also performs in the production.
The premiere is sold out. According to information communicated to Culturama, no places remain available for this performance.
Four characters inside one elevator
The play places four different characters inside the confined space of an elevator. From this deliberately simple premise, the production develops a human encounter shaped by forced proximity, waiting, individual reactions and shifting relationships.
During rehearsals, the elevator gradually became more than a set: a small world of its own, contrasting a restricted physical space with the wider inner worlds of the people trapped inside it.
Cast and creative team
The cast features Zoubir Hilal, Amine Belmaâza, Mohamed Hmimsa and Othman El Yahyaoui. The production is directed by Amine Nassour from a text by Zoubir Hilal, with a wider team working across scenography, lighting, mapping, costume and original music.
A publicly supported Moroccan theatre production
The production is presented by Lahlou Cultural Mediation with support from Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication — Department of Culture, as part of public support for theatrical creation and touring during the 2026–27 artistic season.
The Rabat performance is announced as the starting point of the production’s tour. Culturama will add further dates once they are officially announced.
