Taznakht, in Ouarzazate Province, hosts the 8th Ouaouzguit Carpet Festival from November 2 to 6, 2026, celebrating one of southern Morocco’s most distinctive craft traditions.
The festival highlights the Ouaouzguit carpet, known for its geometric compositions, colour work and weaving techniques transmitted through families, workshops and cooperatives across the region.
Beyond exhibiting carpets, the event aims to support artisans and cooperatives, strengthen market opportunities and reinforce a sector closely tied to Taznakht’s cultural identity and local economy.
Preparations for the eighth edition have involved local authorities, the municipality of Taznakht, Ouisselsate municipality, the regional craft chamber, the Friends of the Carpet Association, the festival management and partner associations.
Taznakht carpets are especially associated with the work of rural women and with skills covering wool preparation, colouring, knotting and decorative composition. The festival provides visibility for this knowledge while contributing to its preservation.
