About this event
The French Institute's Grand Salon in Tangier hosts Floating Cities #Morocco Opus — Through Water and the Sacred from 29 October to 26 November 2026. Its immersive embroidered panels explore how symbols survive, circulate across cultures and find new meaning over time.
Created with the Iminouzerg collective of embroiderers, in partnership with Timendotes and Brodeuse Voyageuse, the works draw on research developed with curator Alaa Eddine Sagid. The project highlights Moroccan textile traditions and their contemporary reinterpretation, including sfifa, qitan and âaqad, ornamental elements associated with the Moroccan caftan.
Bringing together visual art, collective craft, memory and skills transmission, the installation invites visitors to reconsider the connections between heritage and invention. The free opening takes place on Thursday 29 October at 7pm, with a bookshop event involving Les Insolites. The exhibition runs until 26 November.
