American Language Center Tangier

## About the institution and its status **American Language Center Tangier** is part of the **American Cultural Association (ACA)**, an independent, **Moroccan-registered private non-profit**, not a U.S. government cultural space. Its main home at **1 Rue Emsallah** occupies a white building arranged around a courtyard and café, with a teaching annex at **6 Avenue du Prince Héritier, second floor**. It combines **English-language learning with music, theatre, exhibitions and exchanges among Moroccan and international artists**. ## Facilities, arts and cultural resources The institution describes a substantial public cultural presence through **concerts, plays, visual arts, talks, contemporary dance and creative workshops**. It supports Tangier events such as **Urban Arts Week** and the **Haraka contemporary dance festival**, and stages its own **Youmein** multidisciplinary festival, bringing artists together around a shared theme for **48 hours**. Student clubs cover drama, journalism, public speaking, debate, music and arts; conditions vary between student-only sessions and public cultural programmes. ## Documented programmes and 2026 access The centre's website advertises a **fall 2026 term** for children, teenagers and adults, with morning, evening and weekend options. Its French visitor page states main-building reception **Monday–Saturday 9 am–noon and 3–8 pm**, though different website pages give conflicting Sunday information, so verify by telephone. **Partner performances may occur elsewhere in Tangier** rather than at Rue Emsallah; check the venue and any registration requirements for each event. ## Practical visitor information - **Address :** 1 rue Emsallah, centre-ville de Tanger, Maroc ; annexe : 6 avenue du Prince Héritier, 2e étage - **Telephone :** +212 539 93 36 16 - **Contact :** infoalctangier@acamorocco.org - **Official site :** [https://alctangier.org/](https://alctangier.org/) ## Related Culturama venues [Légation américaine de Tanger](/institutions/legation-americaine-tanger-musee-talim) · [Instituto Cervantes de Tanger](/institutions/instituto-cervantes-tanger) · [Espace Beckett – Institut français](/institutions/espace-beckett-tanger) ## Sources and photograph credits [alctangier.org](https://alctangier.org/about-alc/) · [alctangier.org](https://alctangier.org/center/) · [alctangier.org](https://alctangier.org/contact/) · [alctangier.org](https://alctangier.org/) · [aca.org.ma](https://aca.org.ma/contact-3/) *MarocEtude (2023) : façade du bâtiment de l'ALC Tanger, 1 rue Emsallah ; droits du photographe non vérifiés.*
