Atlas Cultural Centre – Khémisset

## About the centre The **Atlas Cultural Centre in Khémisset**, locally nicknamed **“the Church”**, is a heritage building repurposed as a public cultural venue. It stands close to the **Forêt de la Résistance near the eastern entrance to town**. Following years of closure despite renovation works, it **reopened on 10 March 2026**, hosting a forum on investment and territorial development. The building's reused historic character distinguishes it from newer purpose-built municipal halls. ## Programmes and facilities During **2026**, the complex hosted a new sequence of events. Between **2 and 6 June**, the **Ithri Festival** used its garden and adjacent spaces for visual-arts, craft and local-product exhibitions. On **5 June**, poet **Latifa Mansour** presented her collection *Al Ahassis* at an evening also featuring music. On **11 July**, the centre hosted an event recognising **outstanding students and young creators**, now in its eighth edition. These activities illustrate its return to public cultural use. ## Access and current status The reopening brings together architectural memory, the arts, literature, youth activities and local associations. However, **standard daily opening hours, auditorium capacity and general ticket prices remain unverified**. Refer to the announcement for each event. The popular name “the Church” describes its building history and does not imply current religious use.
