Chmaïa Public Cultural Centre

## About the centre The **Chmaïa Cultural Centre** is a municipal public facility in Chmaïa, Youssoufia province, Marrakech–Safi region. Its **inauguration on 20 May 2025** was documented in local coverage featuring the provincial administration. The venue adds a cultural focal point to a town outside the region's larger urban centres and should be treated as a distinct local institution, rather than as an annex of facilities in Safi or Marrakech. ## Programmes and facilities Municipal discussions have also addressed how the centre might be managed. In **October 2025**, the council considered a cooperation agreement with **Association Basma for Educational and Cultural Activities** concerning its operation. The proposal suggests a public-association partnership model, but **the discussion alone does not establish whether the agreement entered into force**. Local reporting also recorded a follow-up visit to the building by provincial authorities in June 2025. ## Access and current status This entry therefore confirms an **inaugurated public facility**, while avoiding unsupported claims about weekly opening hours, resident companies or a fixed exhibition calendar. Theatre, workshops, music and reading could form part of future programming, but they are not asserted as verified recurring events here. Contact the municipality or programme organiser before visiting.
