## About the institution
The **China Cultural Center in Rabat** is a Chinese international-cultural-exchange institution located at **9 Rue Jbel Moussa in Agdal**. Inaugurated in **December 2018**, it promotes encounters among Chinese and Moroccan artists, educators, researchers and the wider public. It is **not the Confucius Institute at Mohammed V University**, which is a separate university-linked language and culture institution. The centre combines **exhibitions, cinema, artistic performances, workshops and conversations about cultural traditions and contemporary creativity**.
## Facilities and cultural mediation
Visitors and groups encounter Chinese visual culture through **exhibition programmes, screenings, lectures and participatory workshops** on calligraphy, paper craft, traditional lanterns, tea, music and seasonal festivals. Its outreach is not confined to the Agdal building: events are co-produced with institutions in Casablanca, Tangier and elsewhere in Rabat. Accordingly, the location for an individual event should always be checked rather than assuming that every programme is hosted on Rue Jbel Moussa. School and youth-facing sessions are an important strand of its cultural-mediation work.
## Documented 2026 events and programme
The centre’s official **2026 programme** included a **Chinese New Year bazaar in Tangier on 7–8 February**, a **traditional lantern workshop on 3 March**, **Chinese Film Week** in April with an opening at **Cinéma Renaissance**, a **Fujian tea-culture event on 6 May**, and **“Magic of Light and Shadow,” an exhibition on concept design in contemporary Chinese cinema in June**. Its fourth **Tea for Harmony cultural salon** was reported on **30 July 2026**. These are documented past activities, not future booking information. Official regular reception hours are **Monday–Friday 9:30 am–5:30 pm**, closed weekends; verify reservations and each event’s actual location.
