A multidisciplinary cultural venue in Tangier

Dabatek is a cultural space located at Technopark Tangier, bringing artistic production into direct contact with a wider environment of innovation, entrepreneurship and urban development. The project is connected to the creative history of Dabateatr, founded in 2004, and carries forward an approach based on experimentation, collaboration and public engagement.

The venue is neither a conventional theatre nor a single-discipline arts centre. It is conceived as a flexible platform where performance, music, visual art, film, literature and sound can intersect. This hybridity reflects Tangier’s own cultural position: a port city shaped by movement, translation and exchange between Moroccan, Mediterranean and international scenes.

Programming, production and residency

Dabatek can host theatre performances, concerts, exhibitions, screenings, debates and artistic encounters. Its spaces include a modular performance area, an exhibition gallery and facilities that can support recording, rehearsal and project development. Residencies and work-in-progress formats give artists time to test ideas rather than presenting only finished productions.

The programme has room for contemporary theatre, Gnawa and other musical practices, digital work, independent cinema and interdisciplinary sound projects. This makes the venue particularly relevant to emerging artists and audiences interested in new formats.
